McKellar
Location: Parry Sound District N 45 30.433 W 79 55.244
On the east side of Highway 124, in Minerva Park.
This memorial was officially unveiled on November 11th, 2007. Made of black granite, the memorial pays tribute to those from the McKellar area who served in the World Wars. The names of those honoured are carved into the granite for eternity, and those who died during the wars have their names marked with an asterisk. This is an attractive memorial, made even more so by the beautiful location beside the lake.
As usual with many small town memorials, the long list of names seems disproportionate to the size of the town, giving further evidence of the sacrifice made by everyone at home, as well as those whose names appear on the long list of honoured heroes.
