Vernon
Location: City of Ottawa N 45.159952 W -75.462319
7814 Lawrence Street, beside the Osgoode Township Historical Society and Museum.
The village of Vernon was once part of Osgoode Township, until amalgamation in 2001 with the City of Ottawa. Home to the Osgoode Township Historical Society and Museum, which houses a tremendous collection of local artifacts in two separate buildings, reflecting on the rural and agricultrural history of the area.
Located beside the museum is this memorial, a grey granite stone listing the names of the men from the community who died in the two World Wars. The Korean War is also recognized although no local men where lost in that conflict.
**Special thanks to Louise Bellec for providing photos and details of this memorial.
