Location: Huron County N 43 26.038 W -81 30.244
On the north side of King Street, in front of the old Town Hall.
This memorial is a classic WWI memorial with a statue of a soldier, made of Italian marble marble. The names of those lost in the First War War, along with their battalion affiliation, are engraved in the black granite base. The names of those lost in the Second World War were added later. The memorial is located beside the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 468.
There is some speculation as to whether or not this was the first memorial in Ontario to be dedicated after WWI. I have not found any evidence to confirm or dispute the claim that this was the first memorial of its kind in Ontario, but if so, then it is certainly worthy of praise for the local citizens of the time to ensure the names of their lost heroes would be honoured forever.
