2353 Perkins Drive, in Horace Seabrook Park.
This cenotaph is situated in the far
right end of Horace Seabrook Park. One would never know that a small community
would have a cenotaph especially as it is located in a secondary street
away from the main intersections, where there is barely any traffic.
This 8 foot tall (about) memorial made of
concrete sits on a parquet of laid out bricks. The top part of this simple
cenotaph has a typical cross of sacrifice and just below a new sign that was
added in 2018 before Remembrance Day. Compared to what it was before
"To Those Who Served" was just painted on this cenotaph. The new sign
gives it a little extra and looks much nicer.
This cenotaph might be simple but sends
a message that every generation should always remember and have
gratitude. Whether our soldiers have survived the war or be
killed in action, for if it were not for their sacrifice we might not be here
today .
***Special thanks once again to Louise Bellec for providing the photos and description.
