In front of the Township Hall, 23 Queen Street.
This memorial is found in front of the Huron-Kinloss Township Hall. At the time of the Great War, this was known as Huron Township and the memorial reflects that fact as it honours the men from Huron and the village of Ripley who left to fight overseas. It lists all the men who served as well as all those who died. A separate plaque on the side of the memorial lists those lost in the Second World War. As we have seen many times, the long list of names is staggering considering the rural nature of this township. Surely the loss of men was a tremendous blow to the community, both during the war and for years after. The plaque remains in terrific condition for its age, all names are clearly read will remain in this sacred place for a long time. Lest We Forget.
