Madawaska

In front of the cemetery on Madawaska Road (Highway 523).

This is a beautiful memorial to the men and women of Murchison and Lyell Townships, who served in the World Wars and Korea.  The memorial is located outside the St. Matthew's RC Cemetery, and features a paved walkway, two benches, two flagpoles and a pair of armoured personnel carriers flanking the granite marker.

Orillia

On the northwest corner of Colborne Street and Dunlop Street, in front of the hospital.

The city of Orillia has done things a little different than most communities.  They decided, at the end of the First World War, to create a cenotaph that was not only practical, but also would show thanks and respect to the men who gave their lives.  The decision was made to build a much needed hospital, and thus, Soldiers' Memorial Hospital was erected in 1922.
A stone cenotaph and walkway mark the entrance to the hospital.   The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 34 helped to make this unique tribute a reality, and added the granite cenotaph in 1967.

Rockwood

On the corner in front of St. John's Anglican Church, at 112 Main Street South.

Rockwood held a special half holiday for families on Thursday, August 28, 1919, beginning with an unveiling of the monument to honour soldiers who fought and fell in the Great War. The excitement was centred around a corner of the lot owned by St. John's Anglican Church. About 50 veterans marched from Waterside Park to the cenotaph, and two bands from Guelph came to provide the music. The attendees later walked to the Agricultural Park to enjoy a luncheon, baseball, and races, with speeches from local dignitaries. The two side additions were added to the memorial after the Second World War in 2000.

Stayner

On Perry Street, in front of the Clearview Township Administration Centre.

Erected fairly recently by the Township of Clearview and the Royal Canadian Legion Stayner Branch 457.  The memorial consists of an engraved granite shaft, featuring the honour roll to those lost in the great conflicts of the 1900s.

New Dundee

On the north side of Bridge Street, entrance to the town park.

Dedicated in honour of and in grateful tribute, to those of the New Dundee community, who gave their lives for freedom in the Second World War. This memorial was erected by the community of New Dundee, unveiled in 1948.  The memorial, known as Memorial Gate, is made up of the stone and iron gates at the entrance to the Town Park.

Uxbridge

On the southeast corner of Brock Street and Toronto Street, in front of the library.

This memorial is proudly dedicated to those from Uxbridge and District who gave their lives in the First and Second World Wars and the Korean War. It was erected by the Imperial Order of the Daughters of the Empire (I.O.D.E.) and the citizens of Uxbridge.  All the names on the cenotaph are from the Great War, along with the crests of the Canadian Expeditionary Forces, which they joined.  A brass plaque on the front bears the names of the dead, and the back hosts the names of those who returned.  A limestone statue of a soldier stands guard atop the memorial.  It appears that the rifle he is holding was replaced in more recent times.   A painted mural across the road also pays tribute to the warriors of the day.
