Acton
Location: Halton Region N 43 37.875 W 080 02.366
70 Mill Street East, at the corner of Elgin Street.
The beautiful memorial was erected by the citizens of Acton, to honour those who gave their lives during the Great War. A single tall pillar marks the original memorial, while two smaller pillars at each side remember the sacrifices made during the Second World War.
This memorial rests on the grounds of Trinity United Church, and great care has been taken by the town to preserve this memorial and the names of those who paid the ultimate price for our freedom.

Bath
Location: Hastings County N 44 11.818 W 076 44.341
In front of the Legion, at 120 County Road 4.
Very nice and fairly new memorial in front of Royal Canadian Legion Branch 623. The memorial is flanked by a large anchor(with its own plaque) and a captured German machine gun. The Bath Legion, as with most other legions, is very active in the community, a centre of activity. The memorial list the major conflicts of the twentieth century, and acknowledges the contribution of Canada's peacekeepers.

Ajax
Location: Durham Region N 43 49.290 W 079 00.745
In a beautiful park along Lake Ontario, at the foot of Harwood Avenue and Lake Driveway.
The Town of Ajax was born during the Second World War. At the time, this area was a rural part of the township of Pickering, with nothing more than some farms and little industry. In 1941, Defense Industries Limited established a munitions plant here, and a town grew around the plant, which at its peak employed over 9,000 workers, and was an integral part of the war effort.
The town took its name from the British cruiser HMS Ajax, which was a key player during the Battle of the River Plate, the first key Allied Naval victory in the war.
In December 1939, a flotilla of British warships, including HMS Ajax, HMS Exeter and HMS Achilles, commanded by Commodore Harry Harwood, engaged and crippled the German battleship Admiral Graf Spee near the Uruguayan port of Montevideo. The German ship fled to into the port, but rather than face the overwhelming British force, the Captain scuttled his ship and the victory was ours.
The Town of Ajax takes its name from this famous battle.
This erected by the town and the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 322, pays tribute to the battle and displays several storyboards which tell the tale of the battle, as well as the key players. A large map, layed out on the ground, in front of the memorial shows the battle details. A tall obelisk was erected at the head of Veterans Point Garden, in 2009, which coincided with the 70th Annisversary of the Battle of the River Plate, as well as a visit from the current HMS Ajax.
I highly recommend a visit to this unique memorial, to read for yourself the amazing story of the battle and to see the wonderful efforts the Town of Ajax has put forth to remember their roots and history.

At 24 Temperance Street, beside the Legion and fairgrounds.
Erected in 1963, by the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #565 and the Mornington Agricultural Society, this fieldstone cairn rests at the entrance to the Milverton Fairgrounds, beside the Legion.
Once again a long list of names of those lost in the World Wars, relative to the size of this farming community, their sacrifice must be forever remembered.
At the left side of the memorial are plaques also dedicated to the pioneers of this region, and to the agricultural services of the people of Mornington Township.

Etobicoke
Location: City of Toronto N 43 38.633 W 079 33.872
At the entrance of the Etobicoke Civic Centre, off of Civic Centre Court and The West Mall.
In 1968, it was recommended to Etobicoke council, that a war memorial be established at the Etobicoke Municipal centre. The decision was made to convert the existing clock tower into a memorial by adding a metal plaque, large cross and flag staff bases. The total costs involved where held to a mere $1,250.00 for this minimum of effort to remember the brave souls who gave their lives in the name of our country.

Rosseau
Location: Municipality of Muskoka N 45 15.450 W 079 38.452
In front of the Community Hall/Library, at 2 Victoria Street.
The citizens of Rosseau and area decided in 1921 to build a lasting memorial to their boys who died in the First World War. It was agreed to build a new community hall, so fundraisers were organized and donations accepted. In August 1924, the new Rosseau Memorial Community Hall was unveiled, a beautifully crafted structure the town would be proud of, made from locally sourced materials and built by the hands of the grateful people of village of Rosseau, and the townships of Humphrey and Cardwell.
In May 1949, a bronze tablet was unveiled on the front of hall, bearing the names of those lost during the two Great Wars.
A newer stone was later added at the entrance of the hall, which included the words "Lest We Forget" and the years of the World Wars, as a reminder of the significance of this important memorial.
