Angus
Location: Simcoe County N 44 19.138 W 079 52.949
On the north side of Queen Street, at Cross Street.
Originally erected in 1938 by the Angus Horticultural Society, the main plaque on the tall stone cairn was later changed to include those who also died in World War II. Subsequent small plaques were added to remember Korea and Peacekeepers. Oddly enough, this memorial and gardens is locked behind a large iron fence, with public access limited to the street.
Angus has always had strong ties to CFB Borden, which lies at the the south end of town. A little known RCAF munitions depot was housed in Angus, and in 1958 a tragic explosion occurred in Depot 13X, taking the lives of seven men. This is one of the worst peacetime munitions explosions in the country. A stone has been placed in the garden, near the base of the main cairn, to remember the seven.

Belleville - Merchant Navy
Loction: Hastings County N 44 11.357 W 077 23.216
In a park near the river, on the southwest corner of Cannifton Road and Bell Blvd.
Hidden along the banks of the Moira River, amongst a grove of trees, is found this small memorial dedicated to the Merchant Navy. This beautifully engraved black granite stone gives thanks to a forgotten aspect of the Great Wars, one which was key to victory for the allies. The Merchant Navy pressed on through terrible circumstances to supply the war effort with a steady supply of men and materials. Their losses were great, but the importance of their efforts were crucial in victory.

LIFELINE OF THE
WORLD
1914-1919 1939-1945
This memorial is dedicated to the men and women of the Canadian
Merchant Navy. Their courage, fortitude and determination in two World
Wars kept the ships sailing through the terrible years of unparalleled loss.
In particular we remember the men and women who gave their lives and
whose only grave is the sea. Their supreme sacrifice in both World Wars
ensured the lifeline of Troops and of supplies without which victory could not
have been ours and without which we would not now enjoy our freedom.

Arthur
Location: Wellington County N 43 49.943 W 080 32.268
In Memorial Park, at 150 George Street, on the corner with Frederick Street West.
As you enter the Village of Arthur, a large welcomes you to to "Canada's Most Patriotic Village". During the Second World War, the village had more than 14 percent of its citizens in uniform. Of the 836 residents, 116 sons and daughters were in the fight for freedom. It is believed this is the highest ratio of involvement of any village in the country. The long list of names from the First World War is equally impressive.
The residents of Arthur also raised over $250,000 in War Bonds, which was over 64% of the entire towns property value at the time.
The memorial is made up of several plaques and dedications. In 1995 the current Wall of Honour was erected, with all plaques and names of the brave brought together in one place. At the sides of the memorial are a pair of modern day guards, taking up position to protect those who served before them. The list of names is long, but considering the size of Arthur, you will not find a more deserving town to be dubbed Canada's Most Patriotic.

Dunnville - Harvard at Library
Location: Haldimand County N 42 54.256 W 079 37.000
On the east side of Chestnut Street, in front of the Public Library.
Dunnville was home to No. 6 Service Flying Training School during the Second World War. This Harvard Mark II was the primary trainer for thousands of airmen headed to Britain to fight in the skies over Europe. This memorial was dedicated in 1964, to those who fought, trained and serviced at SFS No. 6. In addition, two separate plaques were added later to thank two men who were key supporters in ensuring that the history and contribution of Dunnville to the war effort is not forgotten.
