Dundas

Location:  City of Hamilton     N 43 16.054   W 79 57.793
On the south-west corner of King Street west and market Street South, in front of the Community Centre.

A beautiful statue stands high above the corner, honouring the brave men of this village who fought and died in the World Wars.  Two bronze plaques list the names of the dead from each of the World Wars, while smaller plaques pay tribute to the Korean War and the conflict in Afghanistan.  The original plaque also lists the South African War and the names of two soldiers who died in that war.
The memorial was erected in 1921 in Memorial Park, and moved to this location in the 1960's.  The name appearing on the base of the sculpture indicates Hamilton McCarthy of Ottawa, as the creator of the statue.
A wonderful tribute to the brave heroes of this area, forever remembered in our hearts.
