Oakville

Location:   Halton Region     N 43 23.573   W 79 42.754
2500 Lakesore Raod West.

A fairly modern memorial by most standards, this cenotaph can be found in Chris Vokes Memorial Park.  Major General Christopher Vokes was a senior Canadian Army officer in World War II, having commanded troops in the Battle of Ortona and the Battle of Hochwald.  He retired to his home in Oakville and died of cancer in 1985.

The memorial lists the two World Wars and Korea, but does not mention any names of the many soldiers from this town who fought and died so bravely in those major conflicts.
