Hamilton - Mt. Hope LAV

Location:  City of Hamilton     N 43 09.605   W 79 55.567
Off of Airport Road, at the Hamilton International Airport.

This memorial is a tribute to the mission in Afghanistan, and also to local soldiers who have lost their lives in the face of duty.  The LAV is decorated with a plaque to acknowledge the details of the mission.  A granite stone beside the vehicle list those who are responsible for this memorial, including local military regiments, a motorcycle club, and the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum.  The memorial is found on the grounds of the Warplane museum, so it is a great place to visit to honour those who served in Afghanistan and also to view the great museum and wonderful aircraft on display, including the highly-prized Lancaster Bomber.
At the front of the LAV vehicle are smaller individual stone dedicated to Canadian Forces personnel who lost their lives in the course of duty.
There are plans to have several of these displays at various towns across Canada, this is the first one I have seen and I was impressed with the display.
