Parkhill

Location:  Middlesex County     N 43.162425    W -81.686498
In Coronation Park, corner of King Street and Ann Street.

This memorial, erected in 1928, stands as a large granite cross embedded with a bronze sword.  Originally erected to honour the losses from World War I, later additions added the names of those lost in World War II and Korea.  The eight-sided base of the cenotaph features the names of key battles from the Great War.  The engravings are lead-filled, which was common practice at the time, but proves difficult to read as the years pass due to the lead and the granite being almost the same colour with weathering.  An artillery piece dated 1918 is also found nearby.  The piece is in very rough condition.
The area is well-maintained, being in a busy town park.  In my photos there appears to be some disarray, this was due to a nasty hailstorm that passed moments before I visited.
