Veterans Memorial Park, 206 S.t Clair Street.
The town of Point Edward is a famous location for ship-watchers, at the south of Lake Huron where the St. Clair River begins you can sit in Waterfront Park and watch the daily parade of large ships on their journey to the Great Lakes ports and beyond. This makes the area a perfect location for the Canadian Merchant Marine Memorial, found nearby in Veterans Park. The memorial was erected in 1996 by the citizens of Point Edward and pays tribute to the vital lifeline across the Atlantic Ocean during the two World Wars. The memorial is dedicated to the Merchant Marine seamen and their vessels that where lost at sea during this critical time in our history, many of those same ships may have passed by this point on their journey. The black granite stone lists the names of the ships lost and the local men who lost their lives while serving on the seas.
