Walpole is the historic township where the village of Jarvis is located. The memorial is outside the Jarvis branch of the Haldimand County Library. Located behind the library is the Jarvis Knox Presbyterian Cemetery which is the final resting place of several veterans, as indicated by the CWGC grave markers, some of which are listed on the memorial. Jarvis was also home to a WWII Air Training Plan base known as RCAF Station Jarvis.
