Newmarket - NVA Cemetery

Location:  N 44° 03.783 W 079° 27.973  The Newmarket Veteran's Association memorial is located in the Newmarket Cemetery, on Main Street North.

This memorial was erected in 1948 by the Newmarket Veteran's Association. It includes a cenotaph, three rows of white crosses bearing the names of those who we have lost, several grave markers dedicated to veterans, two flag poles, and a bench facing the memorial.

Inscription reads: "Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. Their names liveth for evermore."

Each year on the second Sunday in June the NVA hold a Veterans Decoration Day Parade at the Cemetery. Army and Sea Cadets mount the honour guard and a roll call of every solder from Newmarket that didn't return home is called.
