Kintore

Location:  Oxford County     N 43 08.256   W -81 02.094
In the cemetery at 842890 Road 84, on the west edge of the village.

The memorial is found in the Kintore Presbyterian Cemetery, high on a hill near the entrance.  Originally erected to honour those from this area lost in the First World War, the names now include men also lost in the Second World War as well.  A statue of Italian marble stands proudly over the names of his fellow soldiers, those who paid the supreme sacrifice.  The statue shows the wear of a century of weathering and at some time in that period suffered damage to its left eye, the cause of the damage remaining unknown but somehow fitting given the horror of the Great War.
