Maxville

Location:  United Counties of Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry.
N 45.286999   W 74.860065
On the north side of Mechanic Street West, at Prince Street.

Maxville was founded around 1869 and amalgamated into North Glengarry Township, known in the Ottawa Valley for being host of the famous Glengarry Highland Games, which is one of the largest festivals of Scottish culture in North America.

Their cenotaph is located in a small park on Mechanic St. W. about 4 blocks to the west of Main Street South. Consisting of a stone shaft adorned by 2 flagpoles and a brick pathway leading to it, it was erected by the Maxville War Veterans Club on May 1st, 1982 to honour those who made the supreme sacrifice and of those who served.

Thanks once again to Louise Bellec for the photos and description.
