Princeton

Location:  Oxford County     N 43 10.188   W 8031.619
In front of the library, corner of Main Street S. and Elgin Street W.

This memorial was erected in 1998 by the community of Princeton under the direction of the Princeton and District Historical Society.  It sits proudly on the grounds of the former Soldiers Memorial Library, which served the community from 1921 until 1997, when it was replaced with a new modern library.  Along with the new library, this memorial was created, with a new plaque on the front of the stone wall.  The wall is made of fieldstones from the original library, and features the original dedicated Soldiers Memorial Library stone on the back of the new memorial.  The plaque listed the names of those from this community who died and of those who survived the two World Wars.   Hats off the the community and to the historical society for creating a lasting tribute to the original library and to those who paid the price in war.
Stone gates also greet the visitor with sentiments of remembrance of the past with granite plaques built into the stone.
