Campbellford

Location:  Northumberland County   N 44 18.628   W 77 47.996
On the east side of Queen Street, north of Bridge Street.

On of the most impressive small-town cenotaphs I have seen.  The white stone shining in the bright sun, in a pretty setting alongside the river.  The memorial was first erected in 1926, by the local I.O.D.E., for a cost of $5,000.  Community fundraising efforts were tremendous in those days, in an effort to honour those lost in the Great War.
This glorious monument was restored and rededicated in 2009, with names being added that were omitted when it was first constructed.
The names of the those lost in the two World Wars and Korea are engraved in the massive stone, while two additional plaques list the names of those who served during the major conflicts.  For a full list of names of those who served and died, please refer to this website:  http://www.trenthills.ca/en/community/veterans.asp
