Port McNichol

Location:  Simcoe County   N 44 44.877   W 79 48.536
In Veterans Park, at the corner of 4th Avenue and Davidson Street.

 

Erected by the Village Council, to honour the men of this village who died in the Great War, and later the Second World War.  Two plaques adorn the from of the stone column, on for each of the wars.

Next time you are in the area of Port McNichol, I highly suggest you visit the SS Keewatin, the last remaining large cruise ship that once steamed the waters of the Great Lakes.  The ship is docked in the harbour of Port McNichol and offers guided tours of the history of the ship which first sailed in 1907.  It will be closed for the 2020 season due to the Covid-19 crisis.
