Location: Elgin County N 42.76622 W -80.84827
In the cemetery at 53774 Heritage Road (County Road 38), just west of the village of Richmond.
This memorial is found in the Bayham West Cemetery, also known as the Richmond West Cemetery. The closest village is Richmond, a very short distance to the east, but it is all found in Bayham Township, hence the confusion. The white granite stone was originally dedicated to honour the twelve men of the township who lost their lives in the Great War. One additional name was added to the list after his loss in World War II. As we have seen in many places, the loss of a dozen men from a small rural farming community must have been devastating, not to mention those who returned broken and damaged. All are heroes to be remembered for eternity.
