Wilno

Location:  Renfrew County  N 45 31.235  W 077 31.830
Found at Shrine Hill Lookout, on Shrine Hill Drive, runs off Highway 60.  East of the village of Wilno.

This memorial was erected in the year 2000, by the Millenium Memorial Project Committee.  A stone base with a metal plaque, overlooking the Shrine Hill Lookout.  Site of a large cross, an Ontario Historical Plaque dedicated to Canada's first Polish settlement, and a plaque to recognize those injured on the job.  This is a beautiful location, especially on a clear day, the view is spectacular.  Take time to stop for a visit, and pay your respects.

THEY WILL NEVER KNOW THE BEAUTY OF
THIS PLACE, SEE THE SEASONS CHANGE,
ENJOY NATURE’S CHORUS. ALL WE ENJOY
WE OWE TO THEM, MEN AND WOMEN WHO
LIE BURIED IN THE EARTH OF FOREIGN
LANDS AND OF CANADA, AND IN THE SEVEN
SEAS. DEDICATED TO THE MEMORY OF
THOSE WHO GAVE THEIR LIVES IN THE
SERVICE OF THEIR COUNTRY AND SO
PRESERVED OUR FREEDOM AND HERITAGE.
